ELIGIOUS FESTIVALS of GREECE RHODES ISLAND
Greek Orthodox Easter is the most important Festival of the Year .
The High point is the Easter Mass, which is celebrated at midnight on Ester
Saturday -Sunday ,where people light a candle in the church and carry it home
and make a sign of cross from the smoke of the candle out side their door.
The candles and bright lights end the period of mourning and are lit from holy
candles in church
The locals then great each other the words "Christos Anesti" which means Christ
They end the fast, and usually dine on special soup made out of sheep's entrails
an acquired taste 'They also eat eggs which have been coloured with red food
colouring, but before they tap them together with someone else's egg, if yours
does not break this is meant to be a sing of good luck.
